Autostart firewall at login

Postby ErwinC on Sat Feb 21, 2009 5:41 pm

Hi,
How can I autostart the Mint-firewall at login without the need of my password? I can't figure it out. (ps: I know all about 'sessions')

Linux Mint is funded by ads and donations.

ErwinC,

The firewall in Linux is iptables. It is part of the ports infrastructure. The system will not run without it. Linux's firewall starts automatically when the system loads on boot. You don't need to do anything to start it.

I think you must be referring to one of the many GUI configuration utilities often used to set up iptable rule sets. These only need to run when you want to change your firewall rule sets.

Thank you Fred for the quick reply.
Now that I red a bit more about firewalls on this forum I think it must be the 100th time you answered similar questions like these. I'm sorry for that.
