Tmp Mint files, do I need them

I just noticed that in

~/.linuxmint/mintInstall/tmp/

I have a very large number of files. I was just wondering, as they are listed under a /tmp/ folder does that mean I can safely delete them to save space or are they serving some purpose now?

Ah that is what it is. That explains it, thanks for that atommint. It also explains why I hadn't noticed them before, I used mint install the other day for the first time (from my point of view synaptic is so damn good anything else is totally unnecessary, but I can't resist playing with these things). You are right btw it did take an inordinate amount of time to load up which left me thinking at the time "why on earth does anybody want to use this?". Now I know what it is all about, it downloads all the stuff once then next time it works much quicker.

If it were me I would change the /tmp/ folder they are stored in to some other name though, it only encourages interfering people like me to delete them
