Firefox + Thunderbird dont print to laserprinter [solved]

Postby boerzel on Thu Mar 12, 2009 5:26 pm

Hi,

this Boerzel from Germany. Friendly greetings from here to the LinuxMint community. Have discovered LinuxMint and like it very much.

Have some little problems.

Mozilla Firefox und Mozilla Thunderbird both do not print to my laserprinter, a postscript Lexmark Optra R+, connected to "parallel:/dev/lp0". From all other programs I can print to the laserprinter. To my second printer, a Canon Pixma IP4000 inkprinter, connected to USB, both Firefox and Thunderbird do print.

I know, that this bug with Firefox, Thunderbird an the laserprinter is a thing, wich only Ubuntu and Distros have, wich are related to Ubuntu, because Fedora Linux, Opensuse, Sidux and others do not have this problem.

Could anybody here please help me to solute this problem? What closer informations do you need?

Thanks in advance,
boerzel

Linux Mint is funded by ads and donations.

Hi,

problems are solved.

Need to go eather in Thunderbird and Firefox to configuration (about:config), search for "print" and then change the printing command to
lpr -P printername
(printername is the name of the installed printer, f.e. "canon" or "optra" or whatever on your site)

Thats all.

Greetz,
