system-tools-backends problem?

Postby Harry on Tue Mar 17, 2009 1:52 pm

When I install new software through the portal I get the following message....

E: system-tools-backends: subprocess post-installation script returned error exit status 1

Anyone know what I need to do to sort it?

Thanks

Linux Mint is funded by ads and donations.

That's not a common one...
What do you get from
Code: Select all
apt update

in the terminal so you can catch error messages

well that's ok
We'll have to try the usual ones
Code: Select all
apt install -f

Code: Select all
sudo dpkg --configure -a

If that does not help remove system-tools-backends completely from Synaptic
Take a note of what else that gets removed so you can reinstall if needed
Then install it again
This may solve it

Re: system-tools-backends problem? SOLVED!

Uninstalling then re insalling system-tools-backend seems to have worked.

(took fast-user-switch-applet, gnome-applets, gnome-system-tools and liboobs-1-4 with it that I had to reinstall manually).

Thanks for your help! :D
