amarok & global shortcuts

I just changed over to Mint 6 amd64 from ubuntu feisty and I'm trying to get everything configured back to way I like them. In amarok, I can open the "configure global shortcuts" dialog and edit the shortcuts, etc. but, amarok never seems to recognize when I press these shortcuts, be it the default win+c for play/pause or my configured XF86AudioPlay shortcut. What is missing to allow amarok to recognize these global shortcuts?
