how do i play games that work on windows play on linux, do i need to download stuff

Just use the package manager to install wine.. it's safer that way
Amd 64, 1 GB Ram, 500GB HD, 6 series Nvidia.

In main edition Mint go to Menu --->Administration--->Synaptic Package Manager

You also might wanna drag a copy of that out to your desktop for ease, later.. since you can get tonz and tonz of software from there.. and as I understand it, it's the preferred way to install software

Don't expect full compatibility from Wine.. check the WineDB before trying to install anything so you know if it'll work or not.
