MintUpdate and MintInstall freezes while starting

Postby Natovr on Mon May 04, 2009 11:16 am

Hi, I recently switched from Ubuntu 9.04 to Mint 6 (after a few problems), and I kept my home folder. I tried updating Mint several times, but the program it uses keeps freezing.

MintInstall does it too:

They both seem to be written in Python. Might that have something to do with it?

And no, MintUpdate isn't downloading.. I've waited about 30 minutes and it is still frozen (except it looks more blank now.. like MintInstall.

EDIT: I've re-installed MintInstall using apt-get and it seems to work now.. MintUpdate doesn't and there isn't an updated version of it

Linux Mint is funded by ads and donations.

if you installed from CD, in terminal do : md5sum /dev/cdrom

check that it is the same as the checksum for the iso you downloaded. You should not have to do apt-get on stuff to fix it.
