is there a way to hide the taskbar 100% instead of it still showing 10% of it when hidden?

Linux Mint is funded by ads and donations.

nope, and I'm often annoyed by this too, I've worked around it by using the hide buttons, which slides it off to the side and an unobtrusive button appears over the other windows. This isn't perfect though as it's all manual, but I don't really use the panel at all anymore. There might be some place in gconf-editor to change it I suppose.
