mintupdate freezes

I use Linux Mint 7 (2.6.29) on my NC10 Samsung. Everything works fine except the "mintupdate" application. It loads at startup, it searches and finds automaticaly any updates, but when i try to install these updates, the window freezes, without showing anything, and i have to "kill" it. Then i run it again manually, and everything works fine! It's a little strange!

Yes, I did... :| It was because of a better support (graphics, ...) for my netbook. Is there any solution ? (I think that in linux, there is a solution for everything!)

Intel? Did it help?
Anyway use the old kernel (you should have a choice in grub) for a while and see if mintUpdate still freezes
This way we can sort out if it is the kernel update or something else
I don't really have any solutions for mintUpdate in Gloria

Sorry for not answering for such a long time but it's exams season here in Greece (I' m a teacher  )... Yes, it's a graphics improvement at 2.6.29 -30 kernel (intel graphics)... But, with mintupdate, i still have the same problem, with 2.6.28 kernel too.
And something else.. After my last Gloria update (made manual) i cannot rotate the desktop cube with the mouse wheel any more, and cannot find the corresponding setting in compiz-manager. (It was an update about compiz in update packages).
Thanks 8)

Finaly the problem still exists.. But i found that it happens only when i'm trying to update running my laptop on battery mode. If i run mint update with the power cable pluged in, everything goes ok. ... :?

Seems to me that the battery might not provide enough "umph"
Updating puts CPU and hard disk to work

Thanks for the answer, but what is "umph"? I thought the the battery is strong enough (6cells, about 5 hours lifetime... )... Or is a system power-save prevention?

Well "umph" is a colloquial expression for strength
Seems you have a good battery, however it can be both power saving and that the battery gives a lower voltage
I'm just speculating - hard to tell really
