MintInstall... Ok, but what if there isn't a .mint file?

Hi,

first of all...Cassandra ist great, I Love her (Bianca too).

But I'm a little confused 'bout the new software portal and the lack of .mint files. So what do I have to do, when I want to install programs, normally found in the gnome Application Installer (don't know how it is called, but you know what I mean), when the software portal doesn' give me a .mint file for that application?

ATM, google and then use synaptic. or ask on chat/forums what the app was called that did this sort of thing and looked like...

or wait until it does appear on the software portal.
