Firefox 3.5 icon doesn't appear in MintMenu

Postby runbei on Thu Jul 09, 2009 11:46 pm

I installed Firefox 3.5 before I removed FF 3.0.1, and the FF 3.5 icon doesn't appear in the main menu. When I uninstall both and reinstall FF 3.5, it's still not there. And when I reinstall 3.0, no menu item, either.

Is there a way to make the icon appear? I noticed an earlier thread on this with lots of ideas but no solution that worked for me (reload plugins, etc.). And making my own link and icon isn't really a solution.

Linux Mint is funded by ads and donations.

Right click on menu button, choose Edit Menu and add an entry for Firefox in whatever location you want...

Also, try right clicking on the menu button and choose refresh plugins. That might be all you need to do.

Thanks. Right-clicking the Menu icon and choosing Reload plugins doesn't work. I've gone back to 3.0 for now.

I had Firefox 3.5 installed from the backports repo. Xulrunner is not built for 3.5 and it is not recognised by some sites because of the branding I removed Firefox 3.5 and will wait and see if a better build becomes available. Firefox 3.0.11 does a good job so I am not in any hurry.
