Java fonts look rubbish, please help!

Postby comfy on Fri Jul 10, 2009 10:01 am

Hi there,

I'm a bit new to linux (using Mint 7) so sorry if I'm missing something stupid.

I'm having trouble getting the fonts used in java programs to look good especially the GTK lookandfeel. Ive been using BlueJ and a few of my own little apps. I believe that its an aliasing problem. I've had a look on the web and found that using the option: -Dawt.useSystemAAFontSettings=on (or lcd) should work but it doesnt seem to have any affect. The results are always the same, even if the value is set to "off".

If anyone could help sort this out or have any suggestions i would be very greatful. I'm using JRE 1.6.13 (the one that came with Mint), I've also got the JDK installed from mint update if that matters.

Many Thanks
comfy

Linux Mint is funded by ads and donations.

It will be application specific to java's configuration settings/files I will assume..
