If I take 2.2 and run all upgrades is that ALMOST 3.0 ?

I am trying to avoid a fresh install. I have 2.2 Mint installed with everything in one partition so I can't just leave the Home partition and install over the rest.

I have not seen a surefire way to upgrade so I was wondering what I would be missing out on besides a new kernel. I can have all of the same apps, right?

Wait until directions for upgrading is posted, so you do it right

I've done so (and written the tutorial) and I upgraded by making a fresh install - worked like a charm. That mintconfig appears when it should have been gnome config, well - you have to accept it
and later fix it - it's very obviously hidden in a config file
