Read somewhere here in the forum (can't find it at present), but . . close down the tray icon,
Go into Mint Menu, start MintUpdate from there, log in, and it should update properly, then the tray icon will work properly.

Don't know if this will help, but something to try?

That happened to me once before. I just opened MintUpdate in its own window and everything worked again. Seems like a minor bug to me.
