How to: Firefox 3.5.x Color bleeding Solution

Postby Bushwacker on Tue Jul 28, 2009 7:15 am

Hi there,

I've had a problem with the new Firefox where certain colours would bleed on the screen. The colour management is handled differently between the older versions of FF and 3.5. Colour management was set to "off" previously but it is now "on" in the new version. The way this is managed is apparently different between the versions making the useful GUI "Color Management" extension incompatible with 3.5.

To fix the colour bleed you need to open a new tab and type in the address bar of your browser:

Code: Select all
about:config
. Scroll down/search and look for a line starting with:
Code: Select all
gfx.color_management
. To switch off colour management, set the integer value to
Code: Select all
0
. The Mozilla instruction page is this: http://kb.mozillazine.org/Gfx.color_management.mode

I hope this helps others.

According to the documentation, it seems like you have a badly configured monitor, you might want to try fixing that before turning off the colour management.
