General flash fix:
Code: Select all
apt remove --purge flashplugin-nonfree & apt install adobe-flashplugin
"In somnis veritas"
Antivirus or defragging?

Thank you for this, Kaye!

I'm a new Mint user. Just installed Mint 7 (Gloria) last week.

Had previously used and loved Mandriva, but switched to Mint specifically because it was supposed to be "media ready" right out of the box. It was -- for about three days. I was VERY pleased. Then yesterday I used the Mint updater to install level 1, 2, and 3 updates -- and suddenly Firefox had all the same problems with Flash animation that it had been having in my previous install of Mandriva. Grumble!

I came to the forums looking for a fix and fearing that I'd find only "geek-level" instructions. I'm definitely not a computer expert, just an ordinary desktop user. So finding something as simple as what you posted was a great relief.

It worked, too. Now I'm happy again. Mint is a very nice flavor of Linux and these forums are quite helpful.

No problem. I try to give the easiest instructions possible, I realize that everyone isn't so computer savvy

Yes, any commands given on the forum are for the terminal unless otherwise stated.

I'm having the same issue. I ran the command and got the following message from the terminal:

Code: Select all
Reading package lists... Done
Building dependency tree
Reading state information... Done
E: Couldn't find package adobe-flashplugin

[1]+  Stopped                 apt remove --purge flashplugin-nonfree

Restarting Firefox brings Flash back for a bit, but obviously I'd prefer to avoid doing that. Any ideas?
