amsn blocking contacts.

I am having problems with amsn. I add a new contact and for some reason they block me automatically.
I have looked in my preferences - privacy and see that there are 4 different types of contacts which I dont really understand.
ACCEPTED LIST on the right BLOCKED LIST
below this
CONTACT LIST FL on the right INVERSE CONTACT LIST
I see you can move them, copy them and elimintate them.
Can anyone please clarify how this all works. Maybe I am doing something wrong.
