directories for clamAV?

Postby gitsum on Fri Oct 30, 2009 10:02 am

I installed clamAV and was able to update and get it scanning.

Unfortunately the tutorial gave me the directory (location) for Documents and I have no idea how to scan somewhere different.

In other words, I don't know how find the directory command for any files in Linux, is there somewhere I can see that?

Linux Mint is funded by ads and donations.

As an aside are you using your computer as a server and passing emails and files through to Windows machines? If the answer is yes then clamav is a good idea, if not, and you are just using your computer as a standalone workstation and not sharing files with other Windows machines then you do not need anti-virus software on Linux.

As to using clamav (if you really do need it as a server) then I believe the command is : "sudo clamscan -r /home" (that will scan all files and directories in the home directory and all subdirectories).

"cd" is the command in Linux to change directories. For more information type "man clamscan" in a terminal....
