So I know very little about HTML or any web designing, I create a webpage way back with just HTML but anyways that's besides the point. I was wanting to edit the default home page that comes with Linux Mint and add some search bars below the flash animation. Such as an Ubuntu Forums search bar, Linux Mint Forums search bar, etc. Does anybody know the code for this? I've never done this and it's going to be my little project for the week. Any help would be much appreciated.

Linux Mint is funded by ads and donations.

never done it myself, but I think the first thing I would do is look at the code for the search bar on the relevant pages. just blatantly stealing the following worked for me:

Code: Select all
         <div id="searchbox">

            <form action="" method="post">
                  <label for="q" accesskey="s"><span class="mnemonic">S</span>earch</label>
                  <input type="text" value="" name="query" id="q" />

                        <input type="hidden" name="s" value="" />
                        <input type="hidden" name="do" value="process" />
                        <input type="hidden" name="forumchoice[]" value="" />
                        <input type="hidden" name="childforums" value="1" />
                        <input type="hidden" name="exactname" value="1" />
                  <button type="submit" name="op"><span>go</span></button>

note the modification of the form action; on their site, they do not of course list out the full url, whereas a reference to it not under the same directory must. A similar copy-paste job should do it for the Mint forums, and of course, prettifying it is up to you.
