For 3 days I have been offered 9 recommended updates. I have several times tried to install them, and each time an error is reported.
In 'Details' in the MintUpdate box I get:
dpkg: failed to open package info file '/var/lib/dpkg/available' for reading. No such file or directory.
E: Sub-process /user/bin/dpkg returned an error code (2)
A package failed to install. Trying to recover:
dpkg: failed to open package info file '/var/lib/dpkg/available' for reading. No such file or directory.
Help please!

Re: Puzzle with MintUpdate [Solved]
Thanks a lot, rob2uk:
That line had to be used as 2 separate commands which ran - then there were still 9 updates waiting and they are now installed.
