Cannot run Gcompris [solved]

Postby joeliberty on Fri Nov 27, 2009 6:07 pm

Hello Mint Fans,

I am running Mint 7 and cannot get Gcompris Educational Programs to run. My toddler sure likes this program as it worked previously but recently it has quit working. I get the following errors when trying to load it. Any help is greatly appreciated!

gcompris
exec_prefix NULL
XF86VidMode: Compiled with XF86VidMode.
If you have problems starting GCompris in fullscreen, try the -x option to disable XF86VidMode.

OK, this is wierd======Installed Childsplay for my son and all of a sudden Gcompris is working. I wonder if they use the same dependencies and I was missing some of them???? I will mark this solved!

I had the similiar thing happen to me, when I tried to install GCompris in Debian not long ago. Childsplay must (as you said) have a dependency (python???) that GCompris needs. Glad it's working for you now,....my toodler grandson is just crazy about those educational games too.
