"About me" can't start up (Cassandra)

Postby silentstone on Tue Jul 03, 2007 3:27 pm

Starting "About me" from Control Center or slab menu, it closes with error before allowing me to use it:
"There was an error while trying to get the addressbook information
Evolution Data Server can't handle the protocol
"

But isn't Evolution not installed in Cassandra? Is there some way to edit this feature so that it doesn't reach for a program that's not even there?

Linux Mint is funded by ads and donations.

If you really need the "About Me" feature to work just use Synaptic and install evolution-data-server. If you install this, "About Me" will work again.

Synaptic will install a couple other dependencies with evolution-data-server.

I have no idea why "About Me" needs a dependency like that to work, but that will fix it for you.

Thanks, that worked!

Maybe because that little "About me" can store your personal contact info and all. Bit too much functionality--just wanted to add a photo to user's login.

Neither have I but it's something buried deep down in Ubuntu and even worse lots depend on "About me" so it can't be removed :(

Don't fix it if it ain't broken, don't break it if you can't fix it
