Garmin forerunner305

Post by jajjax »

Hello,

Is there anyone using Garmin Forerunner 305 and Linux Mint ?
What application(s) can i use to retreive all data as garmin training centre does, or even better Sporttracks.
Also if there is possible to use http://connect.garmin.com/ with Linux Mint.

I'm not familiar with Garmin but I am able to do everything with my TomTom with XP in VirtualBox.

I looked up Garmin in the Wine compatibility list and the results weren't good.

There is a linux version of SportsTracks. I haven't quite gotten it all working yet, but apparently some people have. Check out the SportsTracks discussion forum. Here's a brief synopsis.

You need to install libmono-winforms2.0-cil and garmin-forerunner-tools via synaptic or apt-get.

Code: Select all

sudo apt-get install libmono-winforms2.0-cil garmin-forerunner-tools
You then need to download and unpack the linux version of SportsTracks to a directory of your choosing:
http://www.zonefivesoftware.com/SportTr ... /linux.php

And also download the import plugin from this thread and place in the SportsTracks Plugins folder:
http://www.zonefivesoftware.com/SportTr ... t=gpsbabel

Run sportstracks by executing: mono [path to sportstracks executable]/SportsTracks.exe

I've gotten that far, but I can't get it to download data from my forerunner. In the meantime I use VirtualBox with WinXP to download the data, which works just fine. Let us know if you get it working.
