Skype installation

How can I install Skype on Linux Mint 8?

When I try this from Software Manager, nothing happens...

Try running

sudo apt-get install skype

post any output if there's an error.

Be sire to delete (or rename) any .Skype folder in your home folder before attempting a re-install to get rid of any old errors.

if that dosen't work you can try:

Skype is no longer available in the repo for Linux Mint 8, it came to a surprise to me as well.

metamorphousthe's method will work with the .deb.

Thanks; that worked.

I'm trying to use it with a Bluetooth headset, but it doesn't seem to work.
In Skype, the headset is not available to select in Options > Sound Devices.
I've paired the headset correctly, so I can't see any problem.

Any suggestions?
