There is different behaviour while open terminal through nautilus-open-terminal and mintMenu->Terminal in Mint Helena.
While nautilus-open-terminal reads ~/.profile file mintMenu->Terminal does not do it.
I've added some new aliases but they appear only while open terminal through nautilus-open-terminal.
Since I am starting terminal in an interactive mode file should be read by bash as per bash(1), right ?

Re: open gnome terminal behaviour
Solved. Open Terminal. Menu Edit->Profile Preferences, Tab "Title and Command" and check "Run command as a login shell". That's it.
