There are ways to edit the Xfce Menu
My recommendation for doing this would be to consult the 'official' Xfce sources.

Editing the Menu in Mint-8 Xfce, or any of the Mint/Ubuntu desktop environments, is possible; though somewhat difficult, depending on which desktop you're using.
I found a couple of good Forum posts about how to accomplish this task in Xfce 4.6. The basic Xfce desktop in both Mint-8 Xfce CE and Xubuntu 9.10
This is a great post from the Ubuntu Forums for editing the Xfce 4.6 'right-click' Menu >> http://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?t=1105162
This next one can be used to edit most any popular Linux Desktop Menu >> http://standards.freedesktop.org/menu-s ... troduction
This link is great for configuring/customizing a DE/WM Menu; though it tends to be rather Techie/geeky in it instructions. But, you can figure it out, without too much difficulty.
I use either Xfce 4.6 or Openbox 3 as my WM/DE and have learned the How-to of Menu editing.
It is much easier to customize/configure the Menu in Openbox than in Xfce; though both have good 'right-click' menus.
Remember: Have fun. Don't make Linux appear to be harder, than it is.
