guest additions for virtual box (SOLVED)

Postby eric k on Sun May 16, 2010 12:47 pm

I've been trying to install them, but with no luck. Virtual box shows the iso as being mounted, it shows up on the Ubuntu desktop, and yet when I look for it in the terminal, it isn't there. When I try to look up the directory for /media/cdrom, I get nothing. I've looked around the forums and Youtube, and don't understand why the darn thing isn't showing up. This is very frustrating, as it seems to be such an easy thing to do. Any help would be appreciated.

When I mount guest additions in a Linux Mint 9 RC VM, it creates a VBOXADDITIONS_3.1.8_61349 folder on the desktop. It also appears on the left-hand column tree as VBOXADDITIONS_3.1.8_61349 and under /media/VBOXADDITIONS_3.1.8_61349

Ah! Thank you so much. It was listed under floppy, and not CD for some reason, so all the tutorials telling me to look in that directory weren't applicable. I had to keep going down the tree some more. Thank you again for your help.
