Thunderbird won't start

Postby runbei on Tue May 18, 2010 8:17 pm

installed Mint 9 - nice. However, Thunderbird (default install) won't start. It doesn't show in the system monitor, yet it gives the following message then exits:

Thunderbird is already running, but is not responding. To open a new window, you must first close the existing Thunderbird process, or restart your system.

One way to
close the existing Thunderbird process,

is to open a terminal and enter
Code: Select all
killall thunderbird

then you should be able to restart Thunderbird
