How does one "use" the new Software Manager?

Postby volosong on Wed May 19, 2010 1:59 am

On my ASUS EeePC 1201N, I used to run Helena without issue. Today, I did a clean install of Isadora. Under Helena I was able to install new programs whenever I had the need. But the new Software Manager in Isadora doesn't seem to work for me.

1.) I execute the program, (i.e., Software Manager) Which take a very, very long time to load.
2.) Navigate to the program I wish to install, (for example, Digikam) and bring up that page
3.) Click the green "Install" button in the upper right corner of the Software Manager
4.) Enter the "Authenticate" password, and press the "Authenticate" button

And ... that's it. The green "Install" button goes away, and in the lower left corner of the
Software Manager, it still says, "0 ongoing actions". There is no crawling progress bar
along the bottom of the window, as in the posted screen shot on the Mint Isadora page.

What am I doing wrong? Same thing happens under my own account and if I log in as
root. No difference.

Thank you for any help you can offer.
