I've came across this, My software manager works until I click on " Other" or " System packages" It then greys out and I have to force quit, I wonder if this has been reported in LaunchPad?

The greying out is the equivalent of Windows hourglass, it means the app is doing or waiting for something, not that it has hung. It takes a long time to update the list as there are a lot of packages, you have to wait.

Have posted a blueprint suggesting mintInstall display packages immediately whilst continuing to update, rather than waiting until the entire list is gathered.
