Hello,
I've tried Mint 8 and 9, 64bit. It is an AMD 6K cpu in a Gigabyte board. It will load only to a certain point then it restarts. I've triple checked the BIOS and all is good.
In fact, i've even swapped out drives...from smaller sizes to larger and from SATA to IDE. For grins and giggles I've even tried other distros and nothing changed.
Anybody, any ideas? Thanks.

Re: Constant reboot during loading
You don't have a 64bit CPU, use a 32bit OS instead.
This is the Mint version you need.

amd64 is for 64bit CPU's including Intel, AMD and others.
i386 is for 32bit CPU's including Intel, AMD and others.
amd64 does not mean for AMD only.

Re: Constant reboot during loading
I apologize...maybe I have a bad cpu. The cpu is an AMD Athlon 64 X2 6000+. I think I have a 32bit disc of something I'll try. The only reason I bought that cpu was $$ and 64bit capability.
Re: Constant reboot during loading
Oh, I see.
I thought you had a 32bit CPU because your original post said "AMD 6K cpu".
I thought you meant the AMD K6 series 32bit CPU.
Hope you can get your problem resolved.
Good luck
