Installing Source

I wanted to install driver for my web cam. I know it is spca501. I searched in Synaptic and found gspca-source and spca5xx-source. I installed both but what have I really done since these are source files. Are they actually installed?

You need to compile these files
I find:
For
basic install steps see /usr/share/doc/gspca-source/README.Debian.gz
Hopefully a readme is there now, as you got the files "half installed"
