Questions about applications and software
I tried playing a Video Clips CD but it would not play. I thought maybe the cd was scratched but I tried a good VCD (that plays in Win-doze) and it also would not play. Totem said it didnt have plugin to play it. This is a problem because even XP, no matter how crap it is, plays a VCD. VLC also didnt play it.
I would feel bad showing an XP user Linux Mint on my computer, and when I try a VCD, it does not play.
w32 codecs is installed by default though. can anyone help?

I found this for Feisty
- Code: Select all
From Terminal, copy and paste (one by one):
sudo apt-get install vcdtools
sudo apt-get install libxine-extracodecs
sudo apt-get install libxine-main1
From Applications menu choose Add/Remove
You should use synaptic unless I completely misunderstand
Choose VCD0 to play (vcd 2)
or Choose VCD to pay old VCD (vcd 1)
Don't fix it if it ain't broken, don't break it if you can't fix it
