Using LinuxMint-9 (with Windows-7 mostly unused) on a laptop with Pentium dual-core 2.2 GHz cpu, 4 GB RAM, 500GB hdd
The installed command $ sudo hibernate usually but not always works, but always complains: "binary file Tuxonice not found".
Wikipedia provides attractive information about Tuxonice and leads to the home page where downloads are offered.
2 problems:
I am advised:
Step 1: On the PPA's overview page, look for the heading that reads Adding this PPA to your system.
I can't find an overview page for the appropriate PPA.
On trying the suggested commands
$ sudo add-apt-repository ppa:gwibber-daily/ppa
or
$ sudo apt-get-repository https://launchpad.net/~tuxonice/+archive/ppa
I get a response: Segmentation fault - about which Wikipedia has a lot to say, which I don't really understand. It suggests that the specifed locations don't exist, which may well be true.
Please, how do I install the Tuxonice PPA for Karmic?
Yours hopefully, -
Theo Tulley.

Re: Problem installing Tuxonice
Hello TJ Tulley,
I think I've found the missing overview page with instructions for adding the PPA
https://launchpad.net/~tuxonice/+archive/ppa
The instructions do seem a little unclear though.
It seems the code to enter into the terminal is :-
Hope that helps

Re: Problem installing Tuxonice
Thanks Oscar799: That command appeared to download and import the tuxonice ppa - after that the hibernate command still reported 'tuxonice binary file missing' but perhaps after a restart it will have digested it.
BTW, I received an update for hibernate this morning - interesting coincidence!
With many thanks,
Yours sincerely, -
Theo Tulley.

Re: Problem installing Tuxonice
Returning to this after some time, I still get "Warning: Tuxonice binary file not found" when I enter the command $ hibernate. It was , I thought, installed, so i entered:
theo@TJTLap3 ~/Desktop $ locate tuxonice
/etc/apt/sources.list.d/tuxonice-ppa-lucid.list
/etc/apt/sources.list.d/tuxonice-ppa-lucid.list.save
/etc/hibernate/tuxonice.conf
/usr/lib/pm-utils/module.d/tuxonice
/usr/share/hibernate/scriptlets.d/tuxonice
/var/lib/apt/lists/ppa.launchpad.net_tuxonice_ppa_ubuntu_dists_lucid_Release
/var/lib/apt/lists/ppa.launchpad.net_tuxonice_ppa_ubuntu_dists_lucid_Release.gpg
/var/lib/apt/lists/ppa.launchpad.net_tuxonice_ppa_ubuntu_dists_lucid_main_binary-amd64_Packages
with the response as shown.
Hibernate usually works but is somewhat unreliable, and often leads to power-off and restart with disck scan.
Please, what can I do to enable the 'binary file' to be found?
