I have to activate manually audio. How could that be?

To give optimal help we need to know some details:
Mint 8, 9 or 10? Desktop Gnome or KDE or?
Run in a terminal:

alsamixer

hit F6 to choose your sound card and see what is recognized.

I'm running Julia RC with Gnome. I noticed that happens after suspend/resume not after a reboot.

The audio card is an USB SDAC and is recognized correctly.

There is one more option: run

if not installed, it's easy to do.
