burning to dvd goes wrong.

Post by biffer »

Hi,

I've downloaded Debian Mint satisfactorily. When I use K3b to burn it to a dvd disc I get 'fatal error' when I'm about 90% of the way through. I've tried the burn twice with the same result.

Any ideas, please?

Does k3b report any errors in it's settings?
Devices, Programs, Plugins?

Does k3b throw this md5sum at you when you load the .iso

I'm not used to using k3b but I've been through all the stuff I can find on it (tools, settings, device, etc) and no errors show up.

It didn't throw any md5sum at me at any time. What does 'ripping' mean as against 'burning'?

You should be burning image to dvd

I usually pop the blank dvd in then open k3b then navigate to the .iso and click on it in k3b

k3b the does a md5sum of it
if it's OK
Burn it

Hi,

I did use a DVD disc but I'm now thinking that there may have been something wrong with it. It was my last one so I'll have to go out tomorrow and buy some more.

Thanks for your replies. I'll let you know how I get on.

Hi,

All's well now. A new DVD disc did the trick. Thanks for your replies.
