youtube download

I am having issues with youtube download in Linux mint 9 main edition. I researched and there is a bug but reported fixed I tried to reinstall it with no luck. I get the following message when i try to download on youtube

[youtube] 7xrU5BxaPWo: Downloading video info webpage
[youtube] 7xrU5BxaPWo: Extracting video information
ERROR: format not available for video

anyone know how I can get this to work besides going to the new repos to get an updated version

If you don't stick to that app you use I'd suggest the add-on for FF which works fine

dad likes the command line better. If I need to I can grab the one that is in the repos in mav but if there is a simpler way to do it then simplicity is good

Try this

sudo youtube-dl --update
or
sudo apt-get install youtube-dl

The second one is what I tried before I started the thread it didn't work. the first one worked like a charm

I agree they need too and should and I am sure at some point they will.
