new to mint,
but not new to gnome or ubuntu
I dont see any way to get "Mark All Upgrades" button in synatpic
coz
mint 10 no "mark all upgrades" in synaptic

Hi coz!
When in Synaptic, do you see Section, Status, Origin...?
First click "Reload" (does the same as "sudo apt-get update"). Now click Status.
You should see a section with upgradable packages. Mark it, and then mark all packages (Ctrl-a). Right click, and select "Mark for Installation".
Hope this is what you meant.

Yes, the actual button "Mark All Upgrades" has been removed for Linux Mint.
One of the ways to get similar behaviour is as described above by mads.
You can also edit the levels of mintUpdate to pull all updates included 4 and 5 which are not enabled by default, that way you can upgrade all packages through mintUpdate.
The last method is to run the following in terminal
