This is probably an "Abiword only" problem. Check out the help pages at Abiword

I tried sending for some help with abiword and never got a reply. do not waste your time. I love Abiword over openoffice and I have been using it the last month or so but i have found that I delete a word I lose many words and lines too. they eventually randomly appear and I have had this happen that I just removed it yesterday and am now using OO word saved in RTF format. I am disappointed in Abiword.

You are not the only one that has issues with it.

I put it on my daughter's old Mac but I have not used it enough to see this glitch.

probably a linux/Abi problem...Too bad. I like it... I am not using it any longer and will refuse to waste my time with a glitchy App.

sorry - i have no answers; but I am empathic to your scenario.

depending on what you want to do with abiword/OO have a look at Lyx.

Lyx is based off LaTex and gets rid of all the formatting problems found in the others. Lyx can also handle large documents, like a thesis, without crashing every 2 minuets.

well just my ramblings anyway.

Boo... yeah but Lyx is hard to export to a common format like .rtf/.doc

At least that's what I got from my short time trying the app. I didn't completely read the manual though since all I was interested in was to write a story in it without caring for formatting.

If things have changed or I was misinformed by my own lack of research, please enlighten.

Thanks for giving the heads up about Abi Word. I had installed it over OO without testing it yet.

I have barely used lyx, and not in anger.
I know it is always getting better.
I have met a lot of people who used it for their phd thesis', mainly mathematical and engineering ones.

I keep meaning to use it more but I end up just using OO.

Thanks. Going to go back to AbiWord again and uninstall OpenOffice.
