"Playback error encountered! Configured audiosink bin0 is not working"

If you're getting a message like this, or "Configured audiosink bin1 is not working" (or with another number after 'bin'), it may be because Flash is blocking the use of ALSA by Exaile. You can fix this by running

Code: Select all

killall npviewer.bin
In certain cases (such as if a YouTube video has finished playing), Flash may be blocking the use of ALSA even if an 'npviewer.bin' process is not running. In that case, refreshing the offending page while using a Flash blocking browser extension should fix the problem.

This is my last suggestion. Have you checked Configuration Editor ($ gconf-editor) > /system/gstreamer/0.10/default. The Value of "audiosink" and "musicaudiosink" should generally be OK if "autoaudiosink", but you could try to change both to "alsasink".

deleted every package and such, i reinstalled every alsa package and all i get is GStreamer was unable to detect any sound devices. Some sound system specific GStreamer packages may be missing. It may also be a permissions problem

Did you use Synaptic or Terminal? I hope you used Synaptic.
