I removed all packages which came with xine-player and freevo. Apparently I was too rigorous in deleting packages, because now I lost my desktop. If I startup I can only login on the terminal, no gui whatsoever.
I already tried recovery mode-fix broken packages but that didnt help. Is there somethin I can do,or is there a repair function??
I'm not to keen on reinstalling my whole system.
Please help, I'm still a noob at Linux.

I get an error saying "can't find the package" or something after typing sudo apt-get install gnome-desktop.
Re: I lost my desktop
Try:
sudo apt-get upgrade
sudo apt-get install gnome-desktop
sudo reboot
but if that doesn't work, it's gonna be less trouble to reinstall

Re: I lost my desktop
I did a reinstall. I switched from 9 to 10, I wanted to stick to the LTS but Mint 10 just looks too good:-)
