Hey, I'm entirely new to this forum as well as to Linux. I was previously a Windows-only user and I'm trying Mint out after Ubuntu gave me problems. Anyway, I'm posting is because I saw a screenshot of a desktop with a sort of system monitor applet that looks very neat. However, I've been looking all over to see what it could be and haven't been able to find it. I'll post the screenshot and on the upper bar, there's a panel with the applet that I'm interested in. Can anybody identify it?

Thanks!

Re: System Monitor Applet Identification
Well if the image is called upperbar.png then I guess the program is called upperbar? Though I have never heard of it myself.
Look into Conky, it does the same thing and you can probably arrange it in that manner if you learn how to.

There are many articles and tips about CONKY here, in this large, rich information and cool forum, no need to run away, just search

Thanks for the replies! And I named it upper bar since I found the screenshot floating around and decided to save it. I'll definitely look into Conky and see if I can mess with it
Re: System Monitor Applet Identification
On close examination, the bar in question is revealed to be a single line horizontal conky. You can find more of the same and many other conky ideas in the Conky Showoff Thread linked by Elisa, at the Conky sourceforge site referenced by viking777, or check out Conky Pitstop http://forums.linuxmint.com/posting.php ... 47&t=64186
Conky is a configurable system monitor that lets the user decide what will be displayed and how it will be displayed. Most Linux forums will have a Conky Showoff topic of some type. Normally, posters will include a screenshot of their Conky and their Conky script (usually referred to as "conkyrc").
The necessary software and a basic Conky are available in Package Manager (search "conky-all"). For more advanced Conkies, many users find one they like in a showoff thread, copy the conkyrc, and edit it to fit their exact needs.
