configuring simple greeter/gdm3

Postby paul_d on Fri Jan 28, 2011 4:45 pm

Does anyone know how to get rid of the list of users that comes up by default at the first login page?

Configuration editor has a gdm option to disable this, but it doesn't make any difference - a bug, I think.

Debian has a /etc/gdm3 directory containing a greeter.gconf-defaults file where all the options are stored. Manually editing that does disable the users list. However, Mint doesn't have this file (and in fact a /etc/gdm directory, not a gdm3, though I'm pretty sure it is gdm3 - machine not on at present for me to check). I've copied it into the gdm directory but it doesn't make any difference. There is a directory with some greeter stuff in it somewhere under /var but nothing in there seemed the right thing to change either.

Thanks

Paul
