How to fix broken packages? Repo problems?

it worked fine for me. i updated everything else first this morning and then did upstart try that

I unchecked the upstart update and tried the rest. Is that what you meant? I still get the broken packages message.

libc6 packages came into my update manager this morning, and upstart updated without complaints once that happened.

Did this as advised

Just start up terminal
sudo apt-get update ........ then
sudo apt-get upgrade.


..now startup is 75 seconds as opposed to 35 secs previously !!

How can i fix this...remove upstart ??

i meant do that and THEN recheck upstart and try that one. tht is what worked for me.

Returned to updates this am and more added including upstart...all updated fine so guess it's fixed 8)
