My sister in law and brother has just converted over to Linux Mint
She is taking classes and needs Riverpoint and was wondering if anyone knows how to install it in open office. I have googled it and did not find anything except installing in a Windows environment. They are not really wanting to open windows. So if anyone has anything on this or has any to install it using Open Office that would be great.
thanks
Is there a way to install Riverpoint in Open Office?

Hi,
It's kinda better if you can actually contact the developer/company to confirm whether they actually support openoffice / linux ...
OR
You can just use virtualbox to load windows

they do support it but there are two things involved here
1. its in RPM format the version that is supported
2. My brother and his wife are 120 miles away from me and newbies.
I will most likely have them install it on windows. They love mint and want to leave Windows behind but it appears that is not going to be possible at this time.

I think you are stuck with Windows, Riverpoint is a plugin for m$ office which formats documents to a "consistent" style.
AFAIK it currently uses APA version 6.
There is a template for OpenOffice, but it uses APA version 5 see:

Disgraceful the way educational establishments get hooked into M$ by way of 'cheap' student editions and big discounts for staff.

Alien might be worth looking into ?
Reading the 'things you'll need' from the developer's site, both alien and rpm are available through Synaptic.
Found the man pages with examples here . (be sure to check the deb package format notes)
good luck, richy
