Mint Menu on XFCE 4.6

Post by herbie643 »

I installed LMDE XFCE4 about a month ago. Works great and will be my main window manager as Gnome Shell 3 is not my cup of tea. Anyway, I installed the Mint Menu via xfapplet in the XF4Panel.. I logged out and when I logged in, bam, problems (see attachment) plugins.
I have uninstalled mintmenu from Synaptic and reinstalled via an older download. That scenario was unsuccessful as only the Favorites would show. Applications, blank. So went to Synaptic and upgraded. Bam, same problem with Plugins.
Thanks for your time and hopefully a solution.\

Just thought I would update the title otherwise it looks like I was just asking how it could be done.

Not a fix, but I was able to get mintMenu running with xfapplet under Linux Mint 11 RC x64 with XFCE 4.8 installed.

With regards to upgrading Xfce from the old 4.6 to newly released 4.8 in Debian/LMDE.

If you are installing a fresh Xfce-4.8 to Debian ... you will not see any problems, with the new 4.8 or the Xfce4 Menus.

BUT ... if you are upgrading from 4.6 to 4.8 ... everything now seems to be working well (bugs fixed), except that the order of the ~/.xfce-applications.menu and the Mint-Menu is kinda messed up.

You can consult with the Xfce Wiki or the Xfce Forums, on how to correct this oversight.
Or wait, a little longer, for the Xfce Devs to address this issue

I had to find the old xfce.applications.menu files and replace them with the new menus ... but, then, I installed/upgraded Xfce-4.8 to the original LMDE-Xfce.
