Evolution Tray

Post by pan »

Hi! I really love Evolution but the minimize to tray icon doesn't work - known bug. So I found bugfix for it but because of dependencies I had to install with aptitude:
Comment #9: https://answers.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+s ... stion/8692
And after sudo apt-get .... I get:

Code: Select all

Reading package lists... Done
Building dependency tree
Reading state information... Done
Some packages could not be installed. This may mean that you have
requested an impossible situation or if you are using the unstable
distribution that some required packages have not yet been created
or been moved out of Incoming.
The following information may help to resolve the situation:

The following packages have unmet dependencies:
evolution-dev : Depends: libunique-dev but it is not going to be installed
Depends: libgtkhtml3.14-dev but it is not going to be installed
Depends: libgnomecanvas2-dev but it is not going to be installed
Depends: libgnome-desktop-dev but it is not going to be installed
Depends: libgtk2.0-dev but it is not going to be installed
Depends: libedataserverui1.2-dev but it is not going to be installed
libglade2-dev : Depends: libgtk2.0-dev (>= 2.0.6) but it is not going to be installed
E: Broken packages
So I also tried with aptitude and I get:

Code: Select all

1) evolution-dev [Not Installed]

not going to install the package you need and therefore not solve the problem with evolution.

I suggest that you install this package with gdebi (do not install the repository)

https://launchpad.net/~ripps818/+archiv ... d_i386.deb

for a x64 package:

https://launchpad.net/~ripps818/+archive/ppa/+packages

Here ----------------> http://gnome.eu.org/evo/index.php/Evolution_Tray there are more plugins.
if not on the evolution options, try right-clicking on the panel and look for the option to add evolution-tray.

Hi,

I installed evolution mail notification which opens onto panel when new mail arrives, click on it and evolution opens - have found it a nice way to control emails.

Not quite what you were looking for, but it may be a feasible workaround.
