I've just installed Mint 11 64bit on a friends Lenovo laptop. It works fine except boot up is slower than Mint 10 and there's no logo during boot up. Just a black screen. Why can't there be a Mint logo during boot up?
On my own desktop running Mint 10 64bit, I just get Mint 10 in text as it boots up. Why is this?

Re: No Mint logo on bootup
Plymouth is intentionally blanked on Mint 11 because so many graphic cards don't display the Plymouth themes correctly, especially if you have the proprietary graphics driver installed. It's been a known problem with Plymouth for ages. You can use Synaptic Package Manager to install "plymouth-theme-mint" and you'll have the Mint boot screen back.

Re: No Mint logo on bootup
Thanks, but I tried installing it on my Mint 10 PC and I get this:
dave-net davek # apt-get install plymouth-theme-mint
Reading package lists... Done
Building dependency tree
Reading state information... Done
E: Unable to locate package plymouth-theme-mint
dave-net davek #
Doesn't it work with Mint 10?
