user config not persistent across hibernate, reboot, etc

Post by amizcuz »

So, I boot into LMDE 08/2011 x32 gnome, and have to change my monitor setup (laptop and external, except laptop's backlight is fried atm) to only display on the external monitor. No big deal, it's not LM's fault my laptop monitor's out.

But when I reboot, come back from hibernate, or do a regular soft shutdown/bootup, I have to fix my monitor settings again.

Also, my default browser is changed, and a few other things.

Is there something I need to change in a .conf somewhere? I haven't tried logging in as root and setting things up from there, but I'm not sure that would help. If you need further information, I'll post whatever is needed.

I did google, but i guess my terms weren't right or not many people have this problem.

edit: the settings it's reverting to are the first changes i made on the first boot up since installing lmde 2011 (before my laptop monitor died). and it'll sometimes revert to them if i mess around with stuff in my browser, games, some other windows.

hey... is no one replying because it's a boring topic, or did i overlook something? I mean, I bet it has something to do with a randr config file, but i haven't found anyone else with the same problem...
