Sometimes the start button wakes up the computer and brings it back to life - sweet!
But it does not work consistently and is quite erratic
What is the cure for this malady - I am a newbie
I would love to have it power down consistently, each and every time
Any solutions?

Please tell what computer you are using - manufacturer & type, laptop or desktop.
If it has no clear manufacturer or is built by yourself please tell what motherboard it has. And also please post the output of this command in Terminal:
By the way. How do you power down the computer? Shut Down, Hibernate or Suspend?
Which of these is giving you problems?
